Go to session

Charlie has spent his career delivering data-driven projects across the Retail, Transport, Utilities, Telco and Insurance sectors as well as in Government with HMRC, DWP and the Home Office. In each case this involved using an organisation’s data to understand how it is wired together, discover the behaviour of its users and identifying opportunities to become more effective or efficient. He joined DWP in July 2016 as the Head of Data Science, pursuing transformational uses of data, improved tooling and developing the community, Prior to joining DWP he led the Data Practice within BAE Systems’ Applied Intelligence division (formerly Detica) driving the agenda for both innovation in analytics and developing new skills.

“Right now there’s never been a better time to work in Data and terms like “Data Science” and “Big Data” have emerged to help put it high up the agenda. I see working at DWP as a dream opportunity considering the range of possibilities for analytics to transform public services and the difference it can make for the citizen.”
